I have been playing music for many years.  I started out when I was just a kid playing the accordian.  I really wanted to play the guitar, but we had an accordian so that was what I played.  When I started Veterinary school I started playing bluegrass guitar and mandolin.  It was a good refuge from the intensity of my studies.  With the coming of my children and the purchase of my veterinary clinic, came a lack of time, and music went by the wayside.  Now after a 12 year hiatus, it is back.

In April 2000, I began playing renaissance music with an English Country Dance group.  There are about five musicians that regularly play for the dances.  It has proven to be lots of fun.

After playing with this group for a while, I started playing with the same group of musicians at local Celtic music sessions.  These sessions take place in private homes and at several local pubs in our area.  The group varies in number from 3 or 4 up to about 20.  It is lots of fun and again a good distraction from the intensity of my practice. I play mandolin, tenor banjo, and am working on bodhran (an Irish frame drum)
